One Voice for Animals Uk Campaigns

Rabbits and Rodents - a better life

In the first half of 2021, One Voice for Animals UK (OVFAUK), in collaboration with Rabbit Welfare & Rescue organisations from across the UK, led a campaign seeking to improve the lives of Rabbits & Rodents.  These treasured companions often live lonely lives in cramped conditions because our pet shops & retailers don't always sell suitable accommodation or provide the correct advice.

In Summer 2021 we were recognised for our campaigning work and invited to join the the All Party Group for Animal Welfare (APGAW).

Just after we became members, APGAW invited us to the launch of the Rabbit Welfare Code of Practice - a welcome step forward in rabbit care.

The Rabbit Awareness Action Group (RAAG) is the trusted voice for rabbit welfare, which draws on the combined knowledge of a coalition of experts, who for the past 15 years, campaigned effectively through Rabbit Awareness Week (RAW) to improve the lives of pet rabbits.  They have recently published the best practice for keeping rabbits which covers everything including housing, diet, enrichment etc: Good Practice Code.

Petition April 2023

UK’s leading rabbit welfare organisation, the Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund (RWAF) is demanding changes in legislation to require rabbit breeders to be licensed in the same way that certain dog breeders currently are, and to tighten up the existing legislation relating to the sale of pets to make it a requirement that purchasers know the sex of the animal they are buying – and that the sex of the animal sold is correct. The Rabbit Welfare Association & Fund hopes these changes in legislation will improve the lives of rabbits being bred and will reduce the number of rabbits being abandoned, dumped, or surrendered to rescue centres.
